MANGALURU, NOV 02, 2024: On the occasion of the feast of Deepavali, celebrated on 1st November 2024, key members of the Diocese of Mangalore’s Lay Faithful Commission, along with leaders from the Catholic Sabha and other representatives, paid a meaningful visit to the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram at Morgan’s Gate, Mangalore. Deepavali, known as the festival of lights, celebrates the victory of light over darkness, symbolizing the free gift of divine light given to all—a gift to be shared with joy and peace.

Swamiji Shri Jitakamanandagi, the head of the Ashram, extended a warm welcome to the visitors. In his address, he shared the Sanskrit verse “Asato Ma Sadgamaya, Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya, Mrityor Ma Amritamgamaya,” meaning “Lead us from untruth to truth, from darkness to light, and from death to immortality.” This message emphasized the shared goal of spreading brotherhood, peace, and happiness in today’s society.
Rev. Fr J.B. Crasta, secretary of the diocesan Lay Faithful Commission; Alwyn D’Souza, president of the Catholic Sabha of the Diocese of Mangalore; Mithun Sequeira, a well-known social coordinator; and Basavaraju, a volunteer in the healthcare sector, were present.
