The Diocese of Mangalore organizes awareness sessions on Farm Laws.

The Lay Faithful Commission and Commission for Social development of the diocese of Mangalore jointly organized an awareness session on three Farm laws of the government, on 4 February 2021 at Community Hall Bendur. Ms Bhavya Narasimhamurthy, a social activist in Bangalore enlightened the participants about the pros and cons of the recent Farm laws of the government.
She in her presentation compared the laws of the Government and how farmers feel that they are threats to their existence as farmers in the country.
After the talk, there was an interactive session moderated by Mr Roy Castelino, PRO of the diocese of Mangalore.
Fr J B Crasta, the Secretary of the laity Commission, Fr Oswald Montiero the Director, CODP were present at the Dias.
Fr J B Crasta introduced the guest speaker and welcomed all the participants of the awareness session.
The session was very informative and the participants could understand the whole logic behind the farm laws. Many priests, religious men and women, students, seminarians, professors, and many interested persons took an active part in the session. The participants felt the need to stand with our farmers in their struggles and protest against the violations of farmers’ human rights.
Fr Vinod OFM Cap compeered the event. Students from Padua College Mangalore led the prayer.
